Adnan Oktar; Allah be pleased. You are very welcome, it is an honour to have you here.
Baghdad TV: Could you give us some brief facts about your life?
Adnan Oktar; I was born in Ankara on 2 February [1956], and I attended primary, middle and high school in Ankara. I then moved to Istanbul to attend university there. As you have said, I studied at the Academy of Fine Arts. I then transferred to the Philosophy Department, the Istanbul University Philosophy Department. I studied there. I later began my book-writing activities, which are still continuing today.
Baghdad TV: The most important subject you deal with is that of the theory of evolution, so let us begin with that. The adherents of the theory of evolution say that is rests upon scientific evidence. But what you say is that theirs is a philosophical preference. They have no scientific evidence. Their evidence is all hollow. So we have two mutually opposed ideas; so how do you prove your own ideas? You say that evolution is in fact a philosophy, one that goes back to the ancient Greeks.
Adnan Oktar: Yes, the theory of evolution thrives best in a climate of ignorance. The theory spontaneously disappears in the face of science or reason. The theory of evolution is currently in a state of utter defeat and has been totally crushed. We are continuing to hold various conferences in Britain and America. And also in Turkey. We have also produce fossils that deal another lethal blow to Darwinism. Thousands of such fossils have been exhibited. In the past, the public were unable to see fossils anywhere, apart from a very few specimens in a limited number of museums. These were very seldom made visible for people to see. But we put thousands of fossils on show for the first time in 150 years. We made them visible to all. The theory of evolution has today been completely routed. It has been mortally wounded. It is in its death throes. That is why it is no longer as self-confident and arrogant as it used to be. It is now in a very humble state. It is merely trying to defend itself at the moment, and failing even in that.
Baghdad TV: Isn’t it odd how some people are today portraying the theory of evolution? First they have a lot of evidence, but then it all turns out to be empty. So how are they still able to espouse evolution?
Adnan Oktar: Godlessness, Freemasonry, atheistic Zionism came up with a devilish plan to deceive people. Darwinism lay at the root of this devilish plan. They considered what to do to deny Allah.They imagined they had found the answer in Darwinism, and since people were weak in faith there was no counterattack and so Darwinism remained inviolate for around 150 years. For the first time my friends and I have dealt this hollow theory a number of lethal blows. We totally shattered it. It could in fact have been obliterated right at the very start, that would have been very easy. But for some reason nobody until us ever raised their voice against it. That accounts for the French state of shock. Darwinism in France was obliterated in a single night with the sending out of the Atlas of Creation. The current president of France is a believer, as much a believer now as he was once a Darwinist and atheist. The reason for this is that he came into possession of my books, that he read my Atlas and the ideas in it, and concluded that they were true.
Baghdad TV: Our Hodja says that fossils have broken the back of the theory of evolution. Could you expound on that a little, in other words, how is it that fossils broke the back of evolution. Could you enlighten us?
Adnan Oktar: Excavations just about everywhere produce the fossil remains of living things. They number in the millions, not just in single figures. And each one is like a photocopy of its counterparts alive today. We look at fossils dating back 50, 100, 150 or even 300 million years, and see not the slightest change in any one of them. That is Allah’s answer to evolutionists. The way that Allah has preserved and fossilised the bodies of millions of living things under the ground, and has so humiliated evolutionists in the End Times, is truly a great miracle.
Baghdad TV: In your first address you said that it was ignorance that prepared the ground for the theory of evolution. But does it stem from ignorance, or rather from a political objective?
Adnan Oktar; They make use of public ignorance, but of course they have a political objective. They have been able to keep scientists under their thumbs because of their habits of obedience. Most scientists are people with a tendency to obedience. In other words, when threatened with being sacked from school, told that they cannot remain if they refuse to believe certain things, many scientists have espoused the theory. And since the public never looked into or investigated the matter, they too easily came to believe it. Thus it was that Masonry and atheism were easily able to spread atheistic belief. They maintained that empire, that evil empire, for 150 years. But we have now dethroned Darwinism, and smashed that throne down on its own head.
Baghdad TV: Thank you for your clarification. You activities are most excellent. You have demolished this theory of evolution, but the Islamic world also has its own very important problems, economic problems, for example. If your group of scholars or another group of scholars look towards this matter and assist in it, do you think that can help raise Muslims to a higher level?
Adnan Oktar: One thing at a time. First of all, atheism and Godlessness needed to be torn up by the roots. Because faith is the most important thing in life. Darwinism was a system that destroyed belief in Allah. And we have now dealt with it. We have freed the Islamic world of this nightmare that had settled upon it. That was the first duty. Had we not killed Darwinism off, that socialist mindset could have persisted in the great majority of Islamic countries. The socialists were in charge in Iraq, for example, and in Syria, and in Palestine, in other words, Marxists, Darwinists were in charge. Islam breathed a sigh of relief when Darwinism was cast off. And now Islam is able to spread with ease. Faith is now able to spread with ease.
Baghdad TV: First of all, thanks be to Allah for your setting about this great task, and inshaAllah He will give you your reward. You have done a great thing. We greatly appreciate it.
One hadith tells us that “poverty will nearly lead to denial.” These words probably belong to Ali bin Abu Talib rather than to the Prophet (saws) himself; there is disagreement over this. So do you and the thinkers, writers and scholars around you engage in any activities or have any p;rojects intended to research the Islamic concept of economics and disseminate that in order to raise the levels of these poor nations a little?
Adnan Oktar: That project lies within the Qur’an. The Qur’an command us, the whole Islamic world, to unite together. Allah refers to it as “buildings seeming to be made of molten lead” in a verse; I seek refuge from Shaytan in Allah.The first condition for Muslims to be released from poverty is that they should unite together. The second requires their sincere adoption of Qur’anic moral values. That means spreading affection, compassion, love and mutual aid. In any case a Muslim can have no greed or worldly desires. Once we have union and unity, Muslims will look upon each other as brothers, as one family. Wealth and plenty will arise of their own accord once these conditions have been met. There is no need for any additional effort. Islamic countries are in any case rich in terms of oil and minerals. All they need is to draw close to and love one another, to join forces and engage in rational activities. Then things will be as they were in the time of the Prophet Suleyman, inshaAllah. Even if it not exactly like those days, it will still be a time of incredible wealth and prosperity.
Baghdad TV: Do you have a project for the unification of Islam and Muslims? I have heard that you issue a magazine, and that it also calls for the unification of the Islamic world. Do you have such a project?
Adnan Oktar: Yes, inshaAllah we have the idea of a great Islamic Union. Along the lines of a Turkish Islamic Union. We have an idea regarding the Muslim world being the greatest superpower. It will unify the whole Islamic world and the whole Turkish world under Turkish leadership and guidance. The Turkish world is in any case made up of Muslims, I am merely saying that for reasons of clarity. In other words, it means that an Islamic Union will emerge at the same time. We believe that this unification will bring with it peace, plenty and prosperity. We think that wars will end, and that the money now spent on wars will instead be spent in ways beneficial to mankind. And we believe that the time for this is at hand. Our fundamental belief, however, is that the Turkish Islamic Union will come about with the appearance in the End Times of the blessed Mahdi. And we belief that the Prophet ‘Isa (as) will also return and stand alongside him. We believe in the coming of the Prophet ‘Isa (as) as set out in the Qur’an. We believe that the Prophet ‘Isa (as) and the blessed Mahdi will combine together and usher in a delightful age of prosperity and plenty in such a way that Islam will be the only faith on Earth.
Baghdad TV: Are you saying that this will all happen in the very near future? Or that Islam will be the sole remaining faith in the future, whether that is the near future or further away?
Adnan Oktar: Yes, it will be very soon. That is to say, we believe it will happen in 10-20 years at most.
Baghdad TV: Meaning that Turkey’s star is rising again. It was the seat of the last caliphate, of course. The Ottoman caliphate. And we now see that Turkey is rapidly turning towards Islam once again. But my question is why Turkey should be the one to do these things. Why Turkey and not some other country?
Adnan Oktar: The Sun rises from where it sets. And it sets where it rises. That is generally what happens. Since the Sun set over Turkey, that is where it will rise again from. That is my first belief. My second and prime belief is that, according to the hadith, the Mahdi will appear in Istanbul, and there are many hadith to that effect. The city is referred to as Konstantiniye. There are many hadith indicating that Turkey will discharge a major duty on the subject. Many hadith suggest that the Mahdi will appear from among the Turks. That is how it appears when looked at in terms of historical circumstances, as well. And in terms of social conditions. History in general shows that Turkey is currently the natural leader. No country other than Turkey has any aspirations to leadership. The ideal, the view agreed among the whole Islamic world, is Turkish leadership. Whoever one asks, whichever Arab country one asks, they all want to see Turkish leadership. The Turkic states also want to see Turkish leadership. We see nobody asking for the leadership of any other country.
Baghdad TV: I understand, but perhaps patriotism is leading you to be a little biased on this subject. Islam was born in and will emerge from Hedjaz.
Adnan Oktar: Different accounts refer to the Mahdi emerging from such places as Kufe, Basra and Damascus. But as the center of the Islamic world changed, if commentators were in Basra, they claimed he would appear in Basra. Those in Kufe, when it was the capital of the Islamic world, said he would come from there. In Damascus they said he would come from there. The last place was Istanbul. In other words, the accounts actually say he will come from the center of the Islamic world of the time. And that, before the elimination of that caliphate, meant Istanbul. That means that the Mahdi will come from Istanbul, and that is what Said Nursi says.
Baghdad TV: You have written a great many books, dozens of them. You have a number of web sites. You publish in maybe 40 languages. A great many books… You say that Harun Yahya wrote them all. But you have colleagues working alongside you. Their names do not appear in these books. Why are the books ascribed to just one individual?
Adnan Oktar: It is Allah who creates all things. I may appear to write these books, but I am merely a tool employed by Allah.Those books existed before my mother ever gave birth to me. Allah created me as their natural cause. In other words, it is Allah who writes and prepares the books. He uses His servant as a means. The servants do not have such a power. So there can be no question of their being written by me or anyone else. It is Allah Who writes, the servants are means to it. My name appears on the covers as a symbol. But if we were to list the editor, the proof reader and everyone else we would have to list at least 50 people. And there is really no need.
Baghdad TV: Iraq is now in a dreadful state, and the Islamic world is suffering. It is all terribly distressing. Yet you are still very optimistic. You say the Islamic world will unite. The fact is though that the Muslim world is currently totally fragmented, and Iraq and other Islamic countries are under American occupation. Where does this optimism of yours come from?
Adnan Oktar: These things are portents of the coming of the Mahdi. The occupation of Iraq is a portent of the coming of the Mahdi. There are many portents referring to before his coming and after. We are told that foreign countries will head there en masse. We are told it will be occupied by a number of foreign, in other words non-Islamic, armies. The hadith state that before that there will be war between Iraq and Iran. We are also told that Afghanistan will be invaded in the time of the Mahdi. The invasion of Afghanistan is a portent of the Mahdi. There are a great many events concerned with the coming of the Mahdi. One is the stopping of the waters of the River Euphrates. Those waters were stopped by a dam, and the River Euphrates dried up. The newspapers reported it. The accounts also say that the Sun and Moon will be eclipsed at 15-day intervals during the month of Ramadan. And that has also happened. Some 100 other similar portents have all taken place. These things are both portents of the coming of the Mahdi and also the heralds of a great salvation. They are birth pains, the portents of a birth.
Baghdad TV: If the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan is a portent of the Mahdi, Iraq has been occupied a great many times to date. The Tatars occupied it 600 or 800 years ago. Afghanistan was occupied by the British. How is it that you do not regard those as portents of the Mahdi?
Adnan Oktar: In reference to hadith reported by Suyuti, the descriptions given by Said Nursi, and other hadith that the Mahdi will appear in the 1400s, according to the Hijri calendar. And indeed, those portents came about all together in the 1400s. Never before in the history of Islam, within the 1400 years, have hundreds of signs of the coming of the Mahdi become a reality all at the same time. That happened only once and it is after the year 1400 according to the Hijri calendar. The sign in the Sun, the stopping of the waters of the Euphrates, the Iran-Iraq war, and the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan, which I have just described, all happened together and at the same time within 20-30 years. Since this has never been seen before, the situation is completely compatible with the portents of the coming of the Mahdi.
Baghdad TV: Now, America has its Great Middle East project. Do you think it can really detach Muslims from Islam and redirect them in its own direction by means of this project? Do you think there is the slightest possibility of that happening?
Adnan Oktar: The Great Middle East project does not exist. There is a Great Ottoman project. And the Turkish Islamic Union project. The Islamic world is going to unite together. The whole Turkish and Islamic world will come together and establish a major superpower. That state will be in favour of America, and in favour of the British, and in favour of the Russians and also the rest of the world. It will be a system that imparts peace, security and brotherhood to the whole world. And it will thus also be a system that liberates America itself.
Baghdad TV: I am truly amazed at this idea of yours. Because no politicians or analysts see any such thing. What they see happening in the near future is us entering a sole axis established by America and America occupying the whole field following the collapse of Russia. There is no evidence for the things you are so hopeful of, so on what do you base that optimism?
Adnan Oktar: It is Allah who creates America and Russia. Allah is the greatest power of all. It is Allah who shows us America and Russia, who creates them in our brains. America and Russia are not independent powers; they are powers under the control of Allah.Everything happens according to God’s wishes. That was the case in the time of the Prophet Musa. And in the time of the Prophet Ibrahim. And nobody expected such things from the Prophet Yusuf in his day. He was cast into a well, and then they imprisoned him. Yet he still came to a leadership position in Egypt. They had no expectations of the Prophet Suleyman, but he founded a world power. Whatever Allah wants, happens In addition, it is untrue that there is no such view, because analysts in Europe and America themselves say that the Great Ottoman project is under way and that there will be a great Islamic Union under Turkish leadership. That was recently aired by one of the dailies. Everybody knows it. It is no secret.
Baghdad TV: If you have a final message for the Islamic world, and last ideas or a final thought concerning the future of the Islamic world you would like us to forward to the Arab society by way of this channel…
Adnan Oktar: May the hearts of my Muslim brothers be filled with happiness and rejoicing. In 10 to 20 years Islam will enfold the entire world. It is impossible for America or any other country to stop this. The hadith of our Prophet have come true word for word, and are continuing to do so. Some 100 hadith have come true one after the other. Our Prophet’s (saws) worlds are trustworthy and true. He is inspired by Allah. He said all these things with God’s revelation. And they have all come to pass. There will be a great union and unity in Islam. It is the first time that such a global unity will have been seen. And Islam will for the first time rule the world in such glorious majesty. Such a global dimension has never before been seen. Not even in the days of the Prophet Suleyman. It is the first time there will be such dominion. The division between Shia and Sunni and the various schools will disappear. It will be as it was in the time of the Prophet (saws). I am openly stating this for the first time now, in 2008. In the month of February. We will meet again in 10 or 20 years’ time. InshaAllah we will all come to witness that my words are true.
Adnan Oktar: I say this together with the word “inshaAllah.” This will happen by God’s leave. It is Allah who creates all things. InshaAllah, we will all see that God’s promise comes true.
Baghdad TV: Inshallah.
Adnan Oktar: We will also see the Messiah Isa, inshaAllah. He will return to Earth and appear in human form. He will travel the whole world. The Prophet ‘Isa (as) will come as a Muslim and will cause the whole Christian world to turn to Islam. Muslims will also embrace him and show their love for him, inshallah. We are living in a great age, one of miracles and beauty. May Allah give us long lives so that we can all come to see it inshaAllah.
Adnan Oktar: By Allah’s leave, the two brothers, the Mahdi and the Prophet ‘Isa (as), will rid the Earth of this corruption. They will impose the radiance and beauty of Islam on the whole world, inshallah.
